dublin bridge competition

architect: repp design + construction
materials: coated steel, glass, aluminum, recycled wood
Our entry for the Ballsbridge-Dodder Pedestrian Bridge Competition in
Dublin, Ireland is a simple, elegant span, with minimal impact on the
site. Uniting both social & structural conditions this bridge provides
a place to gather / converse or rest / reflect along the deep rails made
from recycled wood while standing on a glass floor over the river. The
structure of the bridge acts in harmony with its occupants - the cadence
of the support arms slows and extends outward as you move towards the
center of the bridge allowing the visitor to slow and experience the vista
& energy from the river.
